There's a hidden (revealed by an easy perception check) crumbling wall near the furnace that will lead you to the Whispering depths. You can access this area either via the well in blighted village or via the smith's basement directly to the right of the main entrance to the village (can lockpick the door or clear the web upstairs and jump into the hole to get down to the basement). The dark amethyst is located close to the mini-boss of a separate area called Whispering Depth. You would not be able to open the book at this stage and will need to locate the dark amethyst that serves as a key. It is worth "unchaining" a healthiest character and picking the book up without the whole group following you.Īlternatively you can use Mage's hand to get the book to the bars and pull the book through the bars. Once you pick up the book, the two gargoyle traps will start shooting mini fireballs at you. The "Rusted key" located in the room opposite to the gate, will open gate's door. Once past the mirror you can see the book locked behind the gate on the left. You can retry the mirror dialogue as many times as you need, but, if you answer wrong, a floating sphere will pop out and will start spraying the area with flaming liquid. Speak your name Szass Tam is bad, I want to get rid of the worm. You can gain access through by successfully intimidating the mirror or by proving yourself to be an ally of its master: The mirror door is a defense mechanism set up to protect the secrets of its master. Run past the caskets (opening one of them starts a fun fight), discover Mirror door. Pulling on the lever reveals hidden door. Once in the basement, run around with Alt to locate the "Lever". The book is located in Apothecary's basement (Building is direct left past the main entrance to the Blighted Village. Destroy the book with Radiant Damage (special animation, highly recommend to try).To complete the quest you will need to complete the following steps: This is by far the most difficult and dangerous route to quest completion that has no apparent immediate rewards. It is unclear whether you gain anything by passing the 3 progressively more difficult saving throws checks yet. Alternatively you can give this book to Gale to help manage his condition. This functions the same way as the "Amulet of the Lost Voices", but without taking up an equipment slot. Successfully unlocking this book effectively grants you character at will casting of the spell "Speak with the dead" (actually once per long rest cast, that grants you at will re-cats). Necromancy of Thay is a book that lays hidden in Blighted Village Apothecary's basement. If you are playing on a later patch things might've changed. This guide is written for Patch 7 of early access. I wanted to share everything I learned by trial and error with the new members of this sub that may benefit from it. This topic is not new, but I have struggled finding full information on how exactly this quest works.
